Little steps. Lasting change.

Big K are very aware that they are working within a challenging industry and are focused on the responsibility they have as a producer and distributor of fuels to ensure they are a more sustainable business. Nurturing ethical and responsible supplier relationships, helping individuals and communities and refining their products are all part of their ongoing sustainability journey.

They have established partnerships with Woodsure, The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and The Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) to support their ESG mission.

Further examples of their sustainability commitments are:

  • Becoming a UK fuel producer themselves and the first company in the UK to carbonise charcoal will reduce their carbon footprint by becoming less reliant on overseas imports.
  • At Stoke Ferry they run a biomass boiler generating electricity from the wood processing waste, using the excess heat to dry their logs.
  • Buying UK timber for use in all their log products.
  • Offering a growing list of products that are made from renewable and recycled sources.
